PRESENTERS

All venue/festival presenters and administrators can register for a PRESENTER badge, which provides access to all CINARS Biennale 2020 activities. All amounts include applicable taxes.


The CINARS Gala Dinner will take place on the evening of Saturday, November 14. You may attend for an additional fee of $85 (taxes included). Spaces limited.




REFUND POLICY

  • Until August 12: Full amount minus a $50 administration fee.
  • Until September 16: 50% of the registration fee.
  • After September 16: No refund.

OFF-CINARS Schedule & Reservations



All companies registered as EXHIBITORS may present OFF-CINARS performances during the CINARS Biennale 2020, as long as they take place within the authorized schedule (see below). All registered OFF-CINARS performances will be promoted on the CINARS Biennale’s website, mobile application, and printed program. CINARS will also provide logistical support to help presenters attend performances.

Please note that some OFF-CINARS performances only allow presenters' attendance. For more information, please ask the OFF-CINARS registration desk at the Registration.


ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, an agent, artist, or company representative must:

  • Be registered as an EXHIBITOR in the CINARS Biennale 2020;
  • Give a performance within the OFF-CINARS authorized schedule;
  • Give a performance in a Montreal venue.


OFF-CINARS AUTHORIZED SCHEDULE


*Please note that the CINARS Gala Dinner will be held at this time (reservation mandatory and additional cost). It is still possible to present a performance for those not attending the dinner. The Closing Party will follow the Gala Dinner.


DEADLINES

  • AUGUST 24 to be included in the first web promotional campaign;
  • SEPTEMBER 30 to be listed in the print program (performances registered after SEPTEMBER 30 will not be included in the official Biennale printed program).

ATTEND OFF-CINARS

The OFF-CINARS reservation form will be available starting on November 12th.


You’ll be able to make your reservations at three places:

  • By computer, smartphone and tablet at www.offcinars.com
  • Through the CINARS application, available on the App Store and Google Play
  • At the OFF table at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth


N.B. Please note that some of the shows are reserved to presenters (Presenters will have the opportunity to make their selections during the pre-reservation period from October 29th to November 4th. A link will be sent to Presenters on the 29th of October, so be on the lookout. If you miss out do not worry, you’ll be able to reserve starting November 12th).

Registration

The registration counter will be located at the Mezzanine level of the Hotel Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth.

A registration badge gives access to all of CINARS Biennale’ activities, except for the OFF-CINARS showcases, which are open primarily to presenters, and for the Gala Dinner, which requires prior reservation and costs $80 CAD.

Registration badges are strictly individual and non-transferable.

The registration counter is also the place to address any general queries you may have regarding the event and to reserve tickets for the OFF-CINARS performances.

Booths

The exhibition room will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on:

  • Thursday, November 12;
  • Friday, November 13;
  • Saturday, November 14.


The set-up will take place on Wednesday, November 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The dismantling will take place on Saturday, November 14 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

With nearly 130 booths featuring artistic companies and agents, and more than 1 000 visitors including 370 presenters, the exhibition hall is a true networking hub for performing arts professionals. It is a place where one can discover new artists, find future collaborators, and build lasting business relationships.

The exhibition hall is located at the Congress level of the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth (900, René-Lévesque Blvd. West).


BOOTHS AND HALF BOOTH

Booths are made of curtains attached on metal tubes.


A booth or half-booth rental includes:

  • 1 identification panel (only one name per identification panel)
  • 2 chairs
  • 1 table + tablecloth: booth 6’x 2’ (1.8 m x 0.6 m) / half booth 4’x 2’ (1.2 m x 0.60 m)
  • 1 waste basket
  • 1 badge (with option of obtaining additional badges)




TABLES

In 2014, CINARS introduced an alternative for agencies and artistic companies: table rentals. A cozy space located in a strategic spot of the exhibition hall will be furnished with numbered tables. It is possible to rent one of these tables instead of a classic booth and make it your company's address for the three exhibition days. A table creates a less formal atmosphere conducive to exchanging ideas freely with the future collaborators you will meet at the Biennale.


A table rental includes:

  • 1 identification panel (only one name per identification panel)
  • 3 chairs
  • 1 bistro table
  • 1 exhibitor badge (additional badges not an option)

Mobile Application

The CINARS Biennale mobile app is free. Download it to have access to the complete program, the schedule of events, a list of activities, the list of all attendees, a map of must-see places, etc. You can also create your own personal agenda and receive notifications.

Once downloaded, accessing the Biennale’s program from the app does not require an internet connection.

The official hotel for the CINARS Biennale 2020 is the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, where many activities are held including the exhibition hall, workshops, and some networking events.

Here is some information to help ease your stay.


TRANSPORTATION

MONTREAL AIRPORT: PIERRE-ELLIOT TRUDEAU

From the airport, there are two options to get to downtown Montreal:
  • If you wish to take a taxi, it will take about 30 minutes (in off-peak hours) to get to the hotel. Taxis ask for a fixed rate of CAN$40 to take you to a downtown destination.
  • You could also take a bus. The Express 747 bus takes about 40 minutes and will drop you off near the hotel (stop: René-Lévesque/Mansfield). A ticket is CAN$10. You can ask the driver to let you know when you've reached the stop.

If you arrive by train, you will get off at Central Station, 895 De la Gauchetière West. The train station is located close to the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth.

TRANSPORTATION IN MONTREAL

The Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth and the performance venues (with the odd exception) are all very close to each other. Many places can be easily reached by foot. The CINARS Biennale will also be providing a shuttle service for some official program activities located further away.

Here are the taxi rates in Montreal:
  • CAN$3.50 base fare + CAN$1.80 per km + CAN$0.65 per minute waiting.
To get around by bus and metro:
  • 1 trip: CAN$3.50; 1-day pass: CAN$10; 3-day pass: CAN$19.50; weekly pass: CAN$26.75.

EAST-WEST ADDRESSES IN MONTREAL:

Certain streets are divided into two parts: East (Est in French) and West (Ouest in French) with two equivalent numbers for each side. For example, there is a 100 Sherbrooke East and a 100 Sherbrooke West, and they are in two different locations. As a point of reference, St-Laurent Boulevard divides the city into East and West.


GENERAL INFORMATION

CURRENCY:
The currency used in Montreal is the Canadian dollar. You can get information on exchange rates by navigating this website. You can change your money into Canadian dollars at foreign exchange offices and in banks.
Most hotels and restaurants accept Visa and Mastercard, however we still recommend having a bit of cash on hand since some smaller bars and restaurants don't accept credit cards.

TIPPING:
In Canada, it is customary to leave 15% to 20% of the total bill as a tip at restaurants, bars, and when you take a taxi.

ELECTRICITY:
In Canada, as in all of North America, the electrical current operates at 110 volts (60 Hz) as opposed to 220 volts (50 Hz) like in Europe and Asia. It might therefore be necessary for you to have an adaptor. You can buy one at the Pierre-Elliot Trudeau airport or in a hardware store.

TEMPERATURE:
The temperature in November usually varies from -2 °C to + 5°C (around 23°F to 37°F) with an average of 93 mm of precipitation.

VISAS

Your passport must be valid for 6 months after the date of your departure.

IMPORTANT: Since March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to or transit through Canada are expected to have Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid Canadian visa.

Online application for an ETA is quick and easy. You need a valid passport or other accepted travel document, a credit card, and an e-mail address. Applications are usually processed within a few minutes.

CAPACOA

CAPACOA will hold its 31th annual conference in conjunction with the CINARS Biennale.The event will take place November 12-13, 2018.

The CAPACOA Conference offers a critical national opportunity for presenters, producers, agents and managers to engage with developing trends and key issues that shape and transform the performing arts. The 2018 edition will explore game-changing insights on cultural participation and will provide many opportunities to depart from the status quo. This partnership entitles CAPACOA presenter members to a 50% rebate to the CINARS Biennale when they register to the CAPACOA Conference.

CIRCUIT-EST

Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique has supported professionals on both technical and artistic levels by offering access to studios adapted to research and creation, professional advanced training activities, and international exchanges programs.

This organization counts ten member companies: Louise Bédard Danse, Sylvain Émard Danse, Danièle Desnoyers/Le Carré des Lombes, Fortier Danse-Création, Et Marianne et Simon, Danse Carpe Diem / Emmanuel Jouthe, maribé – sors de ce corps, Frédérick Gravel /Grouped’ArtGravelArtGroup, MAYDAY and Cie Manuel Roque. Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique is pleased to be associated with the CINARS Biennale for the first time as part of the "OFF-CINARS" by the members of Circuit-Est. centre chorégraphique”, which will be held from November 13 to 17, 2018.

LES COUPS DE THÉÂTRE

An international event, Les Coups de Théâtre festival contributes to the enrichment of arts and culture for children and young people while deepening their interest in the performing arts and new artistic practices. Providing a space for discovery, exchange and reflection, the Festival has become an artistic event unique in Canada whose high quality, innovative and diverse programming ensures that performing arts for young audiences has a place in the international theatre community. The partnership with CINARS allows national and international broadcasters to benefit from a preferential rate for all the shows of the Festival’s programming.

CQM

The Quebec Music Council is a non-profit organization bringing together Quebec’s professional organizations and individuals working in the fields of jazz, classical, contemporary and world music. The organisation offers individual and collective services to its community, supporting the music community’s local, national and international presence. The Quebec Music Council promotes concert music by awarding the Prix Opus to Quebec’s best musical achievements.

QMC invites CINARS delegates to its music showcases on November 13, 12:00 PM, at Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur. Constantinople, Flûte Alors, Jazzlab Orchestra and Piano Caméléons will present excerpts of their repertoire.

DAM

Diversité artistique Montréal (DAM)  is proud to be for the first time one of the partners of the Biennale CINARS and to be able to provide so-called artists of diversity with exclusive access to its events. In keeping with its mandate to promote the recognition and inclusion of these artists in professional circles, this partnership will enable two of its members to attend all activities on the Biennale program and explore the exhibition hall. Under this new agreement, two DAM members will also be given the chance to take part in the My First Biennale initiative. Here’s what to look forward to this year: Anne-Flore de Rochambeau, Farah Fancy, Mohsen El Gharbi and the Regard Persan trio.

DANIEL LÉVEILLÉ DANSE - Série B

Initiated in 2016 by DLD (Daniel Léveillé Danse), Série B is a contemporary dance and performing arts programming presented alongside Biennale CINARS. It invites its audiences to discover or rediscover audacious works by established or emerging creators with a bold, unique artistic signature. This edition, Série B partners with the Swiss Confederation to offer double bills featuring Swiss choreographers and Quebec artists on a single stage. Presented in various Montreal neighbourhoods, Série B is a unifying event of undeniable artistic vigour.

DSR

La Danse sur les routes du Québec is teaming up with CINARS. DSR is an organization that works closely with artists, companies and presenters, to promote dance and encourage its vitality with an ever-growing audience. This partnership provides the DSR’s presenting partners with access to the shows and activities being held as a part of the CINARS Biennale at a preferred rate.

LE VIVIER

Comprising 50 members and organizations, Le Vivier is a community initiative. Its mission is to facilitate the development of new music, and offering through presentation of quality works, an open door to culture. A mission it has been doing for more than 10 years! Le Vivier is proud to be associated with CINARS this year. The group will be in the exhibition hall, at the different activities of the CINARS Biennale and is presenting, on November 12, the CINARS Showcase at Gesù.

ELAN

ELAN (English-Language Arts Network) is a not-for-profit organization in Montreal that connects, supports, and creates opportunities for Quebec’s English-speaking artists and arts communities. Together this network reflects an evolving Québec identity and celebrates the province’s cultural, artistic, and social diversity. ELAN is joining CINARS Biennale for the first time through the Performing Arts Market Access project. ELAN is organizing a showcase, a booklet of tour-ready work, will be present at the exposition hall, and will offer a practical workshop on market access for its members and the Ma Première Biennale participants.

FOCUS QUÉBEC

FOCUS Québec is once again proud to be associated with CINARS. Focus Québec is the only biannual showcase exclusively devoted to Quebec theatre and dance for young audiences. Produced by the Maison Théâtre, this professional conference is organized jointly by the Festival Les Coups de Théâtre, in association with L’Arrière Scène, centre dramatique pour l’enfance et la jeunesse en Montérégie, and Les Gros Becs, centre de diffusion de théâtre jeunesse. That partnership allows presenters who register for FOCUS Québec to also benefit from free access to all the shows and networking activities of the biennial CINARS international performing arts showcase.

MUNDIAL MONTREAL

Mundial Montréal is North America’s premier world music industry gathering. In collaboration with Biennale CINARS, 4 artists were selected for a joint showcase the prestigious Salle Pierre-Mercure. This partnership will give delegates from both events the opportunity to network and to connect with some of Canada’s finest world music talent.

RAR

For the first time this year, the partnership between CINARS and Regroupement des Arts de rue du Québec (RAR), will offer new opportunities of development for artistic projects in public space. The RAR’s primary objective is to illustrate the vitality and diversity of the discipline. The members of the RAR will present a few showcases for you to discover the richness of the " street art  " artistic proposition. Be ready for an amazing treat!

SAT

For the first time this year, the Montreal-based Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) is partnering with the CINARS Biennale to allow international professionals from the performing arts around the world to discover Quebec's digital arts.

The SAT is an arts and research center recognized around the world for its pioneering role in the development of immersive technologies.
