Rhodnie Désir Rhodnie Désir Créations
Rhodnie Désir has created some fifteen choreographic works. Her landmark piece BOW’T TRAIL Retrospek and her pioneering memorial journey BOW’T TRAIL won her the Take Wings Prize and the coveted Grand Prix de la danse. Rhodnie Désir's signature documentary and Afro-contemporary choreography is rooted in the African and Afro-descendant rhythmic languages of her native Haiti, as well as the rest of the Caribbean, Central and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her unique approach, words, performances and civic actions have brought her strong international recognition and have made her a guest lecturer at numerous organisations and universities, as well as at UNESCO, among others. In April 2021, she was nominated by APAP for the prestigious award of merit for achievement in the performing arts 2021. In 2022, she received the "Dancer of the Year" award at the Dynasty Gala and became the first associate artist of the famous Place des Arts institution in Montreal for a three-year pilot project.
